This Engagement session at Matheson Hammock was very unique and featured lots of vintage props. They also did a picnic theme (see my blog post for more on that). I think ideas like this are very good as long as both people are completely on board with the concept. There’s nothing worse then to show up to a engagement session and you (yourself) are very excited about taking all the photos but your man is not very excited and wishes that the session was over already before it even started! (I have seen this a lot, and it’s really not a good thing). So my first recommendation for any client is to make sure that you both love the ideas that you want to do for your engagement photos, and that you are both on the same page.
Now, this specific shot that I did I have them walking through the park at Matheson Hammock. The lightning here is also very interesting it’s a mix up of natural light as well as my artificial light that I’m adding to the frame and this is coming from the camera right position. Buy me adding in my artificial light it creates a highlight on my client and that causes them to separate from the darker background and this is what gives the image the dynamic range that it has.
This is a prime example of how my style of photography stands out among all the other photographers in Miami that consider themselves to be natural light photographers. There is nothing wrong with being a natural light photographer per say, it’s just that they don’t have the same level of control and they are not able to make the same type of result that I can make in the camera without having to do any special effects, filters or edits of any kind.
