Weddings at the Hyatt Regency are just beautiful. So much so, that I have made a very entertaining video showcasing this (see below). Part of the reason I love this place so much is because of all the "little" spots where I can get some really nice, styled shots.
Let's take this one for example... It was in the middle of the reception, and I noticed that the main staircase was empty, and there was no traffic in the lobby. So... I got my clients and posed them at the bottom as you see. I used my assistant, and had him lit them from the bottom, while I stood up and shot down. It was a little tricky to communicate the pose directions, (and this was very important) as I needed some space between them, otherwise they would have just blended together and would not have worked as a photo. Thankfully after just a few seconds, and one or two "test shots" I had what I needed and was very happy! I was so excited at the time, that I showed them my camera back.. and they too were speechless. I love doing that, I love to show my clients some of the shots along the way. This gives them some confidence that things are coming out great.. and as you can see, they do :-)
