This Downtown Miami Wedding photo was captured at the luxurious Epic Hotel on one of the room balcony's. We had just finished up some of the detail shots in the brides room, and wanted to pop over to check on the guys. I did some nice getting ready shots of him (along with the other guys as well) and then I decided to head on outside for a quick shot of him with the city behind him. But, as you can tell this is no ordinary shot of my groom with the Miami Downtown behind him... no, no, this was a carefully executed movie poster that happen inside of a 90 second window. Literary. The first thing I noticed was the sun. It was powerful, and exactly where I wanted it. I used it as a rim / separation light behind him and this then projected a very hard and defined shadow on the ground in front of him. Once I saw that, the whole shot came to me. I wanted to use this as an artistic edge, and so I did. I then matched the exposure from the background with one of my off camera lights (held by my assistant) and within a few test shots I had this image in my camera. ZERO edits were done to it, and I was the hero of the day. The next day James Bond called me, and said he wants his shot back.
