Bridal portraits of my clients on the wedding day is for sure "my thing". I think this comes from my many years of working with models, and working with commercial lighting setups. Regardless, here we are again at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables for this stunning bridal photo. I really think it's stunning too! Don't you? It's the lighting, the pose and the location. It all comes together to make it "what it is". Let's start with the lighting. This was a "gun light" (LED light) and it was used with a very tight focus so that the light would not spill anywhere on the walls. EXCEPT to make a nice spotlight on the wall, which is very much working here. IF I really wanted to get fancy, I would have convinced another person to go up the stairs and shine a second light down on her hair. This light would have been powered VERY low vs. the main light, but it would have made this shot even better. But, regardless.. this is something that 100% NO OTHER photographer would have done, and was an area where I could have made something great even better. The pose is nice, passive, and simple. Almost "zen" really, which for the wedding day is not typical and I think in a way it is relaxing to look at. I think if we cropped this shot in just a little more, and then made a nice big print it would look incredible on the wall... or, perhaps in the sales office at the Biltmore Hotel ;-)
