I think we could all agree that the best Ritz Carlton Wedding Photos are the ones where some real creative effort is hard at work. This is exactly what I have done here. This is what I refer to as a “layered” shot. I have taken the subjects (bride and sister) and positioned them in the location / lighting I wanted.. then.. rather then having a “dead space” lingering in the background (which still would have looked okay).. I decided to take mom, and dad who where walking around getting things ready to go, and place them in the background. This (in my opinion) makes for a very creative, loving, and story telling image that will no doubt look great when placed along side of all of the other images from their day. The lighting also plays a big, big role here and would not look the same otherwise. I have used a large glass door behind me to lit the two girls, and then I needed a way to also bring up the exposure on mom and dad. (otherwise they would be black in the background). So, I used a small off camera light to control the exposure on them, and matched that of the light coming from outside. The end result is a very well executed shot that is balanced, and tells a story.
